George E. Miller, Artist
There's no art experience required to benefit from art therapy. Your creativity comes from within you, not from the opinions of others. In art therapy, your inner thoughts and feelings become your muse, helping you see them from a new perspective.
How does it get any better than just being you? This is a judgment-free space held open for you to be whoever you are, to process whatever you are going through, with an open-minded, open-hearted therapist to help you through.
We offer multiple art therapy methods for ages 13+ to facilitate your mental and emotional healing, from simple mark-making to Neurographica to assessments that unlock your unconscious mind. If you want to just talk, then we'll do that. This is your path to healing. Let's explore.
I am a registered art therapist and licensed mental health counselor in Washington State.
All my life I have been creating. I can't remember a time I wasn't drawing... from antiques on walls to hot rods in magazines. In high school I took my first art class. That started me on my journey of art exploration and a degree and career in graphic design.
I continued my education, following my interests in psychology and true crime, earning degrees in social sciences and forensic psychology. One day, while taking a cross-country road trip with my daughter, I asked myself, "What can I do with all this knowledge? What career is out there that encompasses my education, interests, and skills?" Lo and behold, I found and fell in love with art therapy, which has given me the ability to bring the healing power of art to others.
Leaning towards a Jungian approach, I listen to the needs of each client on a case-by-case basis, helping them discover the method of expression that feels most comfortable and will best help them with their concerns. I incorporate strength-based positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy, transpersonal psychology, mindfulness, guided visualization, neuroscience, as well as various other modalities.
I work with a wide variety of clients, including adults and adolescents, seeking help with trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, problems in school, and general life guidance. Being culturally aware, I understand that every interaction is multicultural. I strive to meet clients where they are, learn who they are, and understand how I can help them.
